Best Grit in Pickleball? | Six Zero Coral Pro Review

Six Zero was super popular back in the day — the Double Black Diamond was one of the best paddles at the time.

They didn't make much that stood out for a while until the Coral.

Now there's the Coral Pro — looks like an upgraded Coral.

Let's see how it plays.

Intro

Reminder: This is a first impressions review, not a full review.

I played with this for a few days, so I can't speak to long-term durability.

This is gen 4 with Six Zero's long-lasting grit — in theory one of the more durable paddles out there.

Quick Specs Overview

The Coral Pro is a full foam gen 4 paddle with Six Zero's long-lasting grit.

• Shapes: Elongated, hybrid, widebody — all 16mm
• Reviewed: Hybrid (what I was sent)
• Original Coral: All-court — let's see if the Pro stays there
• My sample weight: 8.1 oz

I briefly tried adding weight — more on that below.

On-Court First Impressions (Hybrid)

Pop

About average pop — OK for counters, but you'll want to swing through to finish points.

Upside: balls typically don't pop up too much on resets.

Control & Feel

Day one: Felt stiffer and denser — surprising vs the softer original Coral.

Over time: Softened up and felt similar to the original Coral — that softer feel with a bit of pop.

Sweet spot: Average to slightly better — didn't wow me. Not a giant everything-goes-over face, but easy to get balls over since it's not super poppy.

Resets ran lower on average without changing much — nice all-court perk; less worry about reset height vs poppier paddles.

Grit & Spin

The headline: Grit is crazy — probably the grittiest paddle I've tried. Feels like 11Six24-style texture mixed with normal carbon grit — should last.

The original Coral claims long-lasting grit, but this isn't close in comparison. This is what I want when I think "long-lasting grit."

Spin was fine — doesn't translate to something wildly better than other good paddles on market, but no issues.

Weight experiment: Remembering the 11Six24 Power 2 needed weight to unlock spin — I tried 3g at 3 and 9 plus a 6g CRBN Flick Weight on the butt cap.

That setup made drops dip a lot earlier — spin up in theory. Sweet spot improved a lot; more "paddle on ball = over." Stock form edge-hit more often.

Weight helped but felt a bit heavy — went back to stock since I'd need time to adjust to earlier dip.

Power

All-court leaning power — a bit more than the original Coral at first when it felt stiffer.

Didn't miss serves/returns deep with normal serves — on power paddles I usually sail some if I'm careless.

Putaways are OK — placement over raw pace.

Very impressed with the Coral Pro grit — long-lasting textures are the latest innovation; hope more brands follow.

Rating: 8/10

Solid paddle I could play with — not as exciting for me personally since it's all-court. I can handle extra power and wanted a bit more; players who need control will love this.

Good fit if you want an all-court gen 4 paddle with elite long-lasting grit — might be the main option in that lane right now. Most brands seem focused on power.

If you're power-first, probably not for you — but everyone can appreciate the grit.
