My Nightblade 001 vs. 002 first impressions: power, feel, sweet spot, resets, and why I prefer the 001 with an 8/10 rating.

The Warping Point Nightblade 001 and 002 have noticeably different personalities. The 001 gives me more firepower and a feel I enjoy more. The 002 tones things down a little and can make resets easier, but I had more edge hits with it.

After switching between them, I preferred the 001. The extra power didn't come with a big enough control tradeoff to push me toward the 002.

What I Tested

I'm Pickle Li, a 5.0 pickleball player and the creator of MyPickleList. This is a first-impressions review based on a few days of play. I can't speak to long-term durability yet.

Warping Point sent me both paddles for review. My samples each weighed 8 ounces, and I played with both in stock form the whole time.

Correction: I referred to the Nightblade 001 and 002 as hybrid-shaped in the video. Warping Point lists both as elongated, measuring 16.5 × 7.5 inches. “Aero Hybrid Face” refers to the face construction, not the paddle shape.

Both are 16mm full-foam paddles with a carbon-fiberglass-carbon face. The current 001 and 002 product pages call that face Aero Fusion Surface. Warping Point markets the surface as longer-lasting grit, but I haven't had enough time with either paddle to verify that claim.

Pop: Both Are Lively

Both Nightblades are on the poppier side. I had no trouble getting pace on counters with either one, though the 001 generally brought a little more heat.

That liveliness can also show up when I don't want it. Both paddles occasionally popped the ball up more than I expected, and the 001 could send it a little higher because of its extra firepower.

Feel: The 001 Was More Intuitive for Me

I enjoyed the 001 right away. It was pretty intuitive from the start, and I had no issues transitioning to it in stock form.

It reminds me of the Luzz Inferno, but feels more stable, sturdy, and slightly stiffer. I think the fiberglass layer may contribute to that stiffness, though that's my impression rather than something I've isolated in testing.

The extra stability is a big part of why I might prefer its feel to the Inferno 2 I tried recently. It has the relatively hollow response I tend to enjoy, with a little more sturdiness behind it.

The 002 feels stiffer and more solid than the 001. Even so, I'd still put it on the hollow-feeling side compared with a dense, foamy-feeling paddle.

I think the feel on both could be better. Those occasional unexpected pop-ups kept either one from feeling completely dialed in for me. Between the two, though, I liked the 001 more.

Sweet Spot, Drops, and Resets

The 001 has a pretty big sweet spot. I found it more forgiving than the 002, which gave me more edge hits.

Both were good on easier drops, and overall control was relatively similar. The 002's lower firepower naturally helped some resets stay lower, so there were times when it made that shot easier.

But I wouldn't choose the 002 on that alone. The 001's better sweet spot and more enjoyable feel mattered more to me. I was getting more power without feeling like I was giving up much control overall.

That balance is why I preferred the 001 even in the control-and-feel category. The 002 has an advantage on some resets, but the extra edge hits offset it for my game.

Spin: Good, without Standing Out

The grit felt a little better than a typical brand-new paddle surface, but nothing extreme.

I had no issues generating spin with either model. At the same time, neither really stood out compared with the other good-spinning paddles I've tried recently.

Warping Point's durability claims will take longer to evaluate. For now, my takeaway is that the spin does the job, rather than being the main reason I'd choose one of these paddles.

Power: The Biggest Difference

The 001 is significantly more powerful than the 002.

I didn't think the gap was that large at first. Once I started switching between them from game to game, it became very noticeable.

I'd put the 001 in the high-tier power category. The 002 sits closer to mid-tier power for me. If I want to play more aggressively, the 001 is clearly the one I'd reach for.

My Ratings and Verdict

Nightblade 001: 8/10

The 001 is my pick. I like the extra firepower, the larger sweet spot, and the more intuitive feel. It reminds me of the Inferno with a little more stability and sturdiness, which works well for my game.

I'd give it an 8/10. I enjoyed it a little more than some similar paddles, including the Inferno, but not enough to move it into a higher rating.

I also let someone coming from a Pro IV try both Nightblades, and they preferred the 001 as well. That's just one other player's experience, but it lined up with mine.

Nightblade 002: 7–8/10, Leaning Toward 7

The 002 would get the job done for me. Its lower firepower can make resets a little easier, and someone who prefers a stiffer, more solid response may like its feel more than I did.

Personally, I wouldn't gravitate toward it with all the other options available. I felt more edge hits, and the control benefit wasn't enough to outweigh what I liked about the 001. I'd put it in the 7–8/10 range, leaning toward a 7.

Who Should Consider These Paddles?

These are worth considering if you want a more budget-friendly full-foam power option. I especially like the 001 for someone who enjoys an Inferno-like feel but wants a little more sturdiness.

The 002 is the one to consider if you want less firepower and find its firmer feel more comfortable. For my game, though, the 001 gives me the better combination of aggression, forgiveness, and control.

Price and Discount

Warping Point's Nightblade collection lists both paddles at $149.99 as of October 20, 2026.

My code is PICKLELI, and MyPickleList's discount page lists a 10% Warping Point offer. If that offer applies to your selected Nightblade at checkout, the price would be about $135 before tax and any shipping. Check eligibility and the final total before ordering.
