Body Helix FLiK F1 Widebody Paddle Review - Honest Take
11sixCheungLet's talk FLiK F1 unapproved Widebody, aka the "Butter Truck."
Derived from Eddie's description on the KewCast, this paddle actually does feel like you're cutting butter when hitting a pickleball. A full dense block of foam in the center, this paddle gives you the firepower that F1 is known for (albeit less than its approved sibling, the Elongated) and more balance in control.
This is an extremely fun paddle to play with when you want to just launch attacks on your opponent.
The Good: Power, Spin, and Feel
It's not just straight-line speed. With the fresh grit, this paddle can grab onto the pickleball and let you direct your shots. The spin potential is real—you can shape the ball and put it where you want it (when you keep it in bounds).
As a last exciting feature, this widebody comes with a longer handle than 5.5". I would probably say closer to 5.6" or 5.7"—plenty of room for a two-hander.
The firepower is undeniable. This paddle rivals the pop and power of a Boomstik, which says a lot about what it can do when you lean into a drive or overhead.
The Bad: Control and Approval Issues
The biggest drawback of this paddle is that it's not USAP nor UPA approved. Bringing this to a sanctioned tournament or high level of play may draw some ire or outright prohibition from participating.
If you get past that hurdle, this paddle will require the player to tame it. Even if it's more controllable than the elongated, this paddle can send balls flying off the court. I think it's not an exaggeration to say that it rivals the pop and power of a Boomstik.
Warning: Adding weight to the 3/9 has made the paddle unplayable for me. None of my efforts could stop the ball from sailing out of bounds every two hits.
My Verdict
To conclude, this is strictly a fun paddle for me. I think there will be players who can tame it. If you can control the power and take advantage of its spin, this paddle will be an absolute weapon.
But my game is predicated on placement and kitchen battle. The Butter Truck, unfortunately, slips out of my personal ranking as a main paddle.
Who This Paddle Is For
✅ Great if you:
- Want maximum power and pop
- Can control aggressive paddles
- Play recreational (non-sanctioned) games
- Love attacking from anywhere on court
- Have good paddle control already
❌ Skip if you:
- Need USAP/UPA approval for tournaments
- Prefer finesse and placement over power
- Struggle with control on fast paddles
- Rely on kitchen battles and resets
- Want a main tournament paddle
Bottom line: The FLiK F1 Widebody "Butter Truck" is a fun, powerful paddle for the right player. Just make sure you can handle the heat before you step on the court with it.
